Description

African Union (AU) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have jointly initiated this video on ratification of AU treaties. Since 1963 Member States of Organisation of African Unity (OAU) / African Union (AU) have adopted a total of 64 treaties. However, there is a slow pace of ratification and domestication of the treaties. And in order to improve the livelihoods of millions of people across the African continent, ratification of the AU treaties must happen.

The objective of the video is to create greater awareness of the AU treaties among the general public as well as creating a link between treaties and the lives of ordinary Africans, and thereby empowering the public to get involved by getting in touch with their local parliamentarians and civil society organisations in order for them to work together and push for their ratification.

It was agreed to create an animated video that was both educative as well as entertaining, thereby ensuring that the video had a strong appeal to the public across all member states, including both young and old women and men. Phoenix Design Aid wrote the script for the video and came up with storyline for an edu-tainment inspired video, and also provided the full production services. The storyline is based on the creation Mr. Treaty that present the case and his family of un-ratified treaties.

The video has been produced in four languages. Watch them here:
