The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) works to build better policies for better lives with the aim of shaping policies that foster prosperity, equality, opportunity and well-being.
Every second year, the OECD and the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies publish, in cooperation with the European Commission, a series of country health profiles as a part of the State of Health in the European Union (EU) initiative, which aims to improve country-specific and EU-wide knowledge within the field of health, thus promoting learning and exchange.
Since 2019, Phoenix Design Aid has been fortunate to work with OECD on the development of the design and layout for the series, covering a report for all 29 member states. Each profile is produced in English and its respective native language, meaning that our designers work with typesetting of 29 different languages for these projects.
The design of the country profiles entails the development of up to 600 unique and semi-standard data graphs. In order to be able to make a clear comparison of each member state, it is important to maintain consistency in the design and featured data across each country profile. At the same time, the design must also allow room for highlighting each country-specific characteristics and challenges.
