Description

UN Women supports the Enabling Gender-Responsive Disaster Recovery, Climate and Environmental Resilience (EnGenDER) projects which advocates for climate change, disaster risk resilience and environmental management interventions in nine Caribbean countries.

UN Women requested Phoenix Design Aid to design a social behavior change communication (SBCC) strategy based on the nine EnGenDER countries to strengthen gender equality mainstreaming and national level decision-making for climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction for the nine Caribbean countries.

To create the strategies, Phoenix Design Aid reviewed all previous documentation provided by the client, including a previous knowledge, attitudes, practices and behaviours study which served as a baseline for the development of the strategy. Phoenix Design Aid also carried out a validation workshop with the representatives of each country, where the main findings of the strategy were presented, and we worked with the countries to identify the key products to be developed in a further implementation phase.

The findings were separated into one main behaviour change communication strategy and nine factsheets with country related information. To streamline the communication, we also developed a creative concept for the layout of both the strategy and factsheets which included customized illustrations.
