The Global Knowledge Index (GKI) is a key component of the Knowledge Project, a collaboration between UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Arab States and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF). The GKI consists of seven sections that evaluate various sectors such as pre-university education, technical and vocational education, higher education, research and innovation, information technology, economy and enabling environment. These sections are developed using international standards for combining factors and are structured with sectoral parts, pillars, sub-pillars and variables. The index is used to measure the performances of 133 countries and is detailed in an annual report published by the Knowledge Project, providing insights into the statistical methodology and descriptions of the sub-indexes.
Phoenix Design Aid had the pleasure of designing and developing the seventh version of the Global Knowledge Index (GKI) which was launched in November 2023. The report was designed in both English and Arabic.
The report is created in a minimalistic design to ensure easy and simple access to the data content in the report which includes several quantities of information on different countries, and it was therefore extremely vital to make sure that the colour codes matched the right index of each country presented in the report.
