Description

The Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) is a leading international organization accelerating action on climate adaptation. Throughout 2024 and 2025, GCA strengthened its global communications to engage youth voices and build momentum around climate adaptation through its international Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day and related global forums.

Following the successful delivery of a similar contract in 2024, Phoenix Design Aid was re-engaged in 2025 to support GCA with a comprehensive, end-to-end communications and digital delivery programme, covering strategy, branding, content production and campaign execution across the year.

We developed core brand foundations, including a Brandbook, Brand Guidelines and an Identity Toolkit, ensuring consistency and clarity across all communication materials. Building on this, Phoenix Design Aid delivered a full Communication Strategy outlining digital actions, forum-related activities, paid campaign proposals, budget scenarios and an editorial calendar. This was complemented by a dedicated Engagement Strategy defining communication axes, organic content planning, pre-written user messages, a paid media proposal and a detailed Influencer Strategy, later expanded to incorporate additional voices.

The primary focus was to promote the Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day globally, supported by the development of key communication assets and engagement initiatives, including an international video competition.

Phoenix Design Aid produced a wide range of assets, including a promotional video with scripts and voice-over, infographics and social media cards covering multiple campaign phases (countdown, general campaign, youth consultations and key moments). A full online campaign rollout was implemented, with up to 10 posts per month during peak periods, alongside brochures and social media toolkits for partners and stakeholders.

Support for the video competition included the development of social media content, a blog post and a press release, followed by the production of winners’ videos and webcards once finalists were selected.

In parallel, a Guide on NDCs, Youth and Adaptation was developed, supported by webcards, a blog post and a sustained social media rollout to build momentum. The campaign concluded with impact messaging, blogs and press releases, impact-focused social media cards, a carousel template and an outcome video presented at COP30.

Finally, we provided a Social Media Insights Report capturing performance, engagement trends and key learnings to inform future actions.

Through this multi-layered approach, GCA’s communications were strengthened across strategy, execution and measurement, reinforcing its positioning and amplifying youth-led climate adaptation narratives on the global stage, with a global reach of more than 32 million users.
