The National Mechanism for the Prevention of torture and other cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment or punishment is Panama’s National Institution that observes for the dignity of people who are in places under the custody of the state, contributing to the improvement of institutional management – as well as the strengthening of custody and protection of the population recruited or deprived of liberty in Panama.
Phoenix Design Aid provided photography and audio-visual coverage of two workshops organized by the national mechanishim with public officials and human rights activists and produced two post events videos.
The event was supported by the Association for the Prevention of Torture, the British Embassy in Panama, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights for Central America and UNDP Panama.
